Punctuated by a vibrant splashes of coloured glass, 50 Marcus Clarke Street makes a statement in Canberra’s City West precinct. The facade comprises many variations in colour, with feature beads and glass forming the impression of artwork frames. The building’s vibrancy echoes the urban design of the nearby Arts Precinct of Childers Street.
A double storey colonnade wraps across the two primary street fronts on Marcus Clark and Rudd Streets, establishing a pedestrian-friendly interface.
50 Marcus Clarke Street was developed by the Walker Group to accommodate the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), and has been awarded a 6 star Green Star As Built rating and a NABERS 5.5 Star As Built rating. Nettletontribe developed and documented the DA design prepared by May & Russell.
