700 Collins Street

The project to rejuvenate the foyer of 700 Collins Street, Melbourne centres on opportunities to create an exciting new entry sequence. The design is centred around a sculptural art wall which wraps around the existing lift core. It is a three dimensional art piece that utilises dynamic form and bespoke lighting design to create a sense of movement and intrigue for occupants and passersby.

The interior concept sought to create a timeless aesthetic, employing a neutral colour and material palette to give focus to the art wall. In contrast to the luminous, white wall a concierge desk was proposed as a fluid sweeping form, which itself appears like a piece of sculpture.

The desk unit is complementary to the shaded tones of furniture elements chosen to balance floor materials in dark stone and natural timber. The new foyer space brings new life to a familiar part of the city.
