Curtin University, Halls of Residence

1 / 3

Located at Curtin University’s Bentley Campus in Perth, the Exchange development comprises 924 student accommodation modules. The Halls of Residence project provides an integrated student accommodation precinct with over 500 student rooms in a diverse mix of accommodation typologies.

The project is a 10 storey mixed use development with 4x retail tenancies including a Market Hall supermarket on the ground level. The proposal includes a variety of room sizes and the range of included facilities/shared facilities and family style groupings to maximise the “home away from home” experience.

Set within the Bentley campus, the design responds to the surrounding context with strong monolithic forms and geometries, offset by informal permeable ground plane activity. A response and expression evident in the “distinctly Curtin” character of the Bentley campus.

Materials include concrete, metal and glass, offset by warmer tones and elements relating to the residential nature of the project. The interiors throughout draw inspiration from the established pine trees on site and throughout campus. Overall palette and materials are subtle and warm celebrating student life and the botanical themes throughout.
