Lifestyle Working, Collins Street combines creative planning with community responsibility, commercial functionality and environmental sustainability. The development accommodates 137 individual commercial suites plus retail spaces and aims to set a new benchmark in affordable, sustainable office space. Advanced voice and data technologies combined with a substantial solar generation facility distinguishes it from other developments of this kind.
A variety of circulation spaces and a combination of occasional and formal meeting points are designed to generate activity and a sense of vibrancy. Individual suites are arranged inside two rectangular forms connected by a central street. The long axis of each block is oriented north/south to manage solar gain and maximise natural daylight. The building is designed to reinforce the character of industrial surroundings in a heritage precinct through the use of metal sheeting, block work, steel, glass and concrete.
