The Steps, Central Park

1 / 6

The Frasers Property development is a student housing project pursued in partnership with Foster and Partners, London. It is a component part of a larger development, Central Park, which aims to achieve an intelligent interplay of buildings and public spaces, raising the benchmark for sustainable living globally. The student housing component is designed to mediate the building scale of the CBD and inner residential areas and ensure significant sunlight reaches the main park and residential buildings to the south.

The fifteen storey, 826 bed student accommodation provides a sustainable, quality communal environment close to the city centre. Retail and reception facilities are provided at grade to ensure an activated ground plane on all facades. The student accommodation offers a range of studio configurations and multi-share units arranged in two north-south oriented blocks.

Apartments are configured in a manner that permits high quality cross ventilation through considered facade articulation. Communal and social areas are designed to interact with the central garden courtyard. A double height lobby space leads via a terraced seating area to an outdoor BBQ area which has deep soil landscaping. Rich planting provides visual amenity for those circulating the building and for the inward oriented studios.
