Refresh at 400
Located in the heart of Brisbane's CBD, the 400 George Street End-of-Trip Facility is a destination designed to provide a luxurious and rejuvenating experience for workers.
Working on the second collaboration with client Cromwell Property Group and builder ATG Projects, nettletontribe looks at end-of-trip facilities in a new lens for 400 George St, located in the prestigious North Quarters of Brisbane CBD. Known as Refresh at 400, the refurbishment ushers in a new standard of end-of-trip design within the Brisbane Market through the luxurious look and feel. This state-of-the-art facility offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, catering to the needs of modern professionals seeking a comfortable and convenient space to unwind.
The challenge was to create harmony between new and existing building services and to link the existing identity of the existing interior spaces with that of the new facility. Heavy with services below the proposed facility, early design stages were an exercise in methodical spatial planning, that kept in mind these constraints and were functional to the type of facility being created. Clear zones were allocated for these amenities and the idea of highlighting these zones through a play on ceiling heights, lighting and the purposeful placement of finishes was applied, resulting in a functional and intuitive layout that worked with the building’s existing services.
Luxurious details Though a seemingly blank canvas, the challenge of the space was to create harmony between new and existing building services. Cromwell requested that further bike parking be included in the existing car park in response to the growing demand for on-site bike secure parking facilities and the push for health buildings where exercise and movement are encouraged.
