Forestway Shopping Centre
Forestway Shopping Centre located in Frenchs Forest, NSW, is undergoing a major transformation to revitalise the 60-year-old retail hub into a modern destination tailored to the lower Northern Beaches community.
Strategically located at the intersection of Warringah Road and Forest Way, the redevelopment combines commercial revitalisation with community-oriented design. The project expands retail space to feature a diverse tenant mix and enhances customer experience with improved parking connectivity and a striking architectural design.
Embracing the Northern Beaches’ relaxed atmosphere, the architectural response features a material palette of weatherboard, brick, and timber. The natural aesthetic extends from the exterior to the interior. Together with wider paths and integrated landscaping, the architecture enhances accessibility, encourage foot traffic, and provides a cohesive customer experience making the centre more inclusive and in tune with its surrounding neighbourhood.
Key structural alterations include the transformation of the existing elevated car park to better facilitate the interaction between public spaces and retail areas, emphasising transparency, easy navigation, and connectivity. Redesigned vehicle and pedestrian circulation patterns enhance movement and safety, while new pedestrian entrances improve access and serve as an opportunity to enhance the centre’s aesthetics by incorporating double height entry statements shaped to mimic tree canopies.
The project is being delivered in stages with the first phases having been completed in 2024. The final phase is anticipated to be completed in 2027.
