Cultivating innovation and wellness in design at the Prestons office and distribution hub

GWA Group is Australia’s foremost designer, importer and distributor of kitchen and bathroom product in Australia and New Zealand.

In 2017 GWA Group embarked on an extensive rebranding which embraces the company’s core values, of supporting local designers and managing sustainable business practises, preferencing quality over quantity at all times. The office design embraces the principals of ‘Wellness’ in design, creating a healthy work place for the staff to thrive, this is done by incorporating natural ventilation, daylight and nature into the 500sqm space.

The main planning driver for the workspace was to provide a visual anchor to the surrounding landscape. This is achieved in two ways, the centre of the workspace are two Australian native courtyards. The main circulation within the workspace is centred on an existing red gum eucalyptus tree in the communal courtyard. This majestic gum tree can be seen from the entry, drawing the employees and guests into the space.

The focus on the Australian natives inspired the colour scheme with muted colours of olive green, flood gum grey and Jarrah timber provide the bases of the colour scheme.
