International Women’s Day 2021

Happy International Women’s Day 2021! Our tribe has been busy celebrating the progress of gender equality while also recognising that we still have work to do.

The tribe started their day off with Breakfast at the Emporium, South Bank for the AIA International Women’s Day event, hosted by The Queensland Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (QEDIC). Followed by morning tea at our Brisbane studio, nettletontribe Architect Kylie Fair and Graduate of Architecture Catriona Mitchell delivered an inspiring presentation on the history and importance of International Women’s Day, encouraging us to #choosetochallenge.

We asked our tribe what this year’s IWD theme means to them. nettletontribe Senior Associate, Rebecca Champney believes #choosetochallenge means “Recognising the role we play in building equity and diversity and the impact that our voices and actions have towards creating a more inclusive culture. Lead by example and acknowledge our own bias and influence of what we say and do.” For Practice Manager Amy Lyden, it was important that “Each day we #choosetochallenge we then get to live the life we choose”.
